Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Turning Excel Indent Level into Labels for Hiearchy.

Welcome to episode 2412 of the MrExcel Podcast, where we dive into the amazing new feature in Excel – Track Changes! This feature is a game changer and I can’t wait to show you how it works. It wasn’t even on my radar until I received a note that it will be available for general use in June 2021. But guess what? I already have it and I am blown away by how cool it is.

So here’s the deal – in order to use this feature, you need to save your file to OneDrive and then open it in Excel Online. From there, you will see a new option to /”See all of the Changes/” on the Review tab. And let me tell you, it’s mind-blowing. You can see all the changes made to the file, even if it was saved the day before. It’s like having a complete history of your spreadsheet at your fingertips.

But wait, there’s more! You can also filter the changes to see only those made in a specific workbook, sheet, or range. And if you want to know when a particular cell was changed, you can simply right-click and select /”Show Changes/” to see the history of that cell. This feature is a game changer for tracking and reviewing changes made to your Excel files. And the best part? It’s available in Excel Online, so even if you primarily work in Win32, you can still access this amazing feature.

But be warned, this feature may make your manager a little too happy. They will be able to see every single change and mistake you make in the spreadsheet. But hey, at least you can show them the complete history and how you fixed it, right? And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, this feature also makes my book, MrExcel 2021, a little obsolete. But don’t worry, I’ll be updating it to include this amazing new feature. So make sure to hit that /”I/” in the top right corner to stay updated on all the latest Excel tips and tricks. And if you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and ring that bell for more Excel goodness. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you in the next episode of the MrExcel Podcast.

Today, Bill has data where the amount of indent is telling him some data. He shows how to use VBA and IndentLevel to add a column of data showing the indent level.

Then, a second technique, using the Group button on the Data Tab to make an outline view in Excel. This is like creating a hierarchy.
