In this Microsoft Planner tutorial, I will show you how to set up a planner and use it to manage your tasks and workflow. Planner has a standalone application, or you can add it to Microsoft Teams. We will look at both options so you can choose which works best for you and your team.
Planner works like a Kanban board and allows you to organize tasks into buckets. You can customize it with color-coded tags, attachments, and sub-tasks. This tool is suitable for managing the workflow of a team or personal tasks. If you use Planner for teamwork, the assign feature makes it clear what person(s) are responsible for working on and completing a task.

In my experience Planner is best suited for small to medium projects. Larger projects with a lot of interdependences might benefit from the Projects tool.

This video focuses on managing tasks for a team of people, but the same steps would apply if you used Planner for personal tasks. The only difference is the membership of the Plan.

Note: The feature to add Planner to Outlook does not currently work in the Government Community Cloud (GCC). As of 12/8/2021 the Microsoft Roadmap says this feature is delayed indefinitely (ID 81997).
