Q. What GPA do I need to get a scholarship to UCLA?
High school entering students are considered for scholarships with a minimum 4.1 GPA. Community college entering students are considered for scholarships with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
Q. Does UCLA give out scholarships?
At UCLA undergraduate students are awarded scholarships by demonstrating a high level of academic and personal achievement. Applicants to UCLA are encouraged to apply for scholarships managed by Financial Aid and Scholarships by completing the scholarship section of their admissions application.
Q. Do UCS give full rides?
UC doesn’t give any true full rides that I know of except perhaps to some recruited athletes. If you mean full ride with no student contribution (loans / work earnings expectations) they exist, but are rare.
Q. Do UCS give merit scholarships?
To qualify for merit scholarships, students will need to complete the scholarship section on the UC Application.
Q. Does UCLA look at freshman grades?
UCs do look at courses you take in freshman and senior years; the grades and rigor of your coursework are considered in context of your overall curriculum. But freshman and senior year grades are NOT included in the GPA calculation. Competitive UCs like Berkeley and UCLA look at both unweighted and fully weighted GPA.
Q. Can you get a scholarship at UCLA if you are a continuing student?
If you accept your offer of admission to UCLA, you will have the opportunity to apply for additional scholarship opportunities from your academic departments as a continuing student and from Financial Aid and Scholarships via the continuing student scholarship application.
Q. How does the UCLA scholarship Resource Center work?
The SRC helps UCLA students identify and apply for scholarships. We offer workshops, individual counseling, and other resources. We are separate from the Financial Aid Office. Please see our FAQ here .
Q. How many black students have scholarships at UCLA?
The UCLA Black Alumni Association (UBAA) is helping to preserve the legacy of African-American student at UCLA. Since 2007, over 1100 African-American/Black students have benefited from this effort receiving multi-year scholarships of up to $40,000.
Q. When to apply for financial aid at UC?
The FAFSA or California Dream Act Application and Cal Grant GPA Verification Form must be completed and filed (postmarked) between October 1, 2020 and March 2, 2021. Don’t wait until you’re accepted to UC to apply for financial aid. What happens next?
