Cold temperatures cause the ink within the cartridge to thicken. The thicker, colder ink won’t be able to be heated properly, preventing the thermal inkjet process from functioning as intended. Warmer temperatures have the opposite effect. The ink becomes thinner, creating unreliable, messy printing.

Fresh ink stains are easier to remove before they dry and set into the fabric. Blot the excess of the stain gently, being careful not to rub it into the fibers. Apply rubbing alcohol, hairspray, or hand sanitizer to dilute the stain, making it easier to remove during the wash.

Dried Stains Once a stain has been dried it’s very hard to remove, but it is possible. If you’ve already used a stain remover, try using it again. More than likely you’ll need to soak the stain or use a more aggressive stain remover.

Baking soda and water combo are also effective in removing the ink stains from almost any kind of fabric. Take two parts of baking soda and one part of water and mix nicely to make a paste. Take a cotton ball, soak it into the baking soda and water paste and dab it on the ink stain until the stain fades away.

1. Place a paper towel under the stain and sponge it with rubbing alcohol.
2. Use an eyedropper to apply alcohol directly onto the stain or, for a larger spot, pour the alcohol into a small dish, immerse the stained area and soak for 15 minutes.

Just apply a little to the stain, rub in, and then wash immediately in hot water and detergent + 1/2 cup Clorox® Regular Bleach2. Hand sanitizers can cause stain like marks on clothing. Some contain alcohol, a known stain remover, others benzalkonium chloride which is a bleaching agent. When the sanitizer comes into contact with clothing, it can remove the color from the fabric.

Acetone can be used to remove pesky ink stains from shirts and other garments. You can purchase acetone from home improvement stores, or use an acetone-based nail polish remover.

Spray the stained area with hairspray and allow it to sit for several minutes to soak in. Do not rub at the stain, as this is likely to just spread the ink around. If the hairspray is working, you will probably see the stained area begin to soften.

To remove ink stains from coloured clothes, an overnight milk bath will often do the trick. Place your ink stained clothing into the milk bath and let it soak overnight. Once it has finished soaking place your clothes in the washing machine and clean as normal.
