Disclaimer: Boring Video.
I wanted to make an updated video of setting up a chromecast after changing your wifi ssid or router. I’d done this along time ago but it’s now been years. When you do this,.. it’s supposed to be SUPER EASY. I mean.. it’s google. But in actuallity, you will probably encounter the following errors:

1. Looking for devices Error

2. Devices not found Error

3. plug in your device Error

Google suggests that you just unplug the power on your chromecast and start the process over again. I think they should probably spend a little money on better QA testers. This method does not work for some people.
Workarounds for the above errors are as followed:

A) Reset chromecast
B) Reset Google Home or reset your tablet/iphone that has google home
C) factory resetting chromecast using the button on the chromecast (while it’s on… and holding the button for 15+ seconds)

If none of these methods fixes your problem… then please .. you can just read the description below. You don’t have to watch my video.

In this video, I’m setting up the chromecast (1st gen) using an ipad with google home.

i) just go into settings and wifi for the ipad and connect to your chromecast. On your TV, the chromecast name should be displayed somewhere in the center or bottom left. This is the MOST IMPORTANT step, as it will allow google home to know you have a device that is not setup.
So again.. connect your google home tablet by going into wifi settings and clicking on your chromecast name to connect to it.

ii) once it has connected, you can go to google home and proceed with the normal chromecast setup procedure.

Yes.. it’s that easy. For some reason, I don’t know why google hasn’t mentioned this method more?? go figure:

There is no need to subscribe. I’m glad if my video helped you out. If it didn’t my apologies. I’m just an amateur video blogger.
