We retrieve the day of the week from a date in Excel. In our example, we have dates in numerical date format. We want to identify the day of the week which corresponds to each date. To do this, we can use the WEEKDAY function. However, the disadvantage of this function is that it returns each day of the week in numerical format. For example, 1 is Monday, 2 is Tuesday and so on. To overcome this, we can use the VLOOKUP function to retrieve the actual day.
