If you have a situation where you cannot boot into Windows and need to get your files off of your hard drive, you can easily boot to a live Linux CD or flash drive and then copy your files to ax external USB hard drive or flash drive. You can use Linux distributions such as Ubuntu or Knoppix etc. to do so.
